SK17i Dead

Hello, I have had 2 SK17i units brought to me from the same person. Both are dead with no response at all when trying to connect using volume down, or by testpoint. I understand that the owner has attempted unlocking them but will not be honest about how he has tried.
Any thoughts on how I might go about fixing these ? Do I need some sort of cable ? I have some xperia 'resurrection' cables but not one to fit the SK17i. I have searched but cannot seem to find one

Any help or advice would be greatly welcomed and appreciated
