Are you sure that PC was detecting it as an MTK device !!??, Let's pretend that is true, There must be something wrong related to the drivers or something else, can't be sure. So, i suggest you try to connect it to another PC first, Also, you can disassemble the phone and know what you're dealing with. And FYI, HTC 816G has MTK Chip, 816W has QUALCOMM Chip.
