Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,

Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”

Also, you need to make sure that the battery left is minimum of 60% and also the USB Debugging should be enabled in your device which you can do so from the Settings path.
Disable / uninstall all the security suites installed in your computer as these tools generally interrupt the rooting process.
So let’s gets started with a detailed guide on how you can root the device with a detailed Procedure to Root HTC Incredible S:

• Create a folder named as “Downgrade” in your computer’s desktop and then download the “Download kit” from here to your computer.

• Up next, create a new folder in “Downgrade” as “Downgrade Kit”. Extract the downloaded Download Kit into the “Downgrade Kit” and then open the folder and click on the “runme.cmd” executable file in your computer. Up next you need to make a new folder inside the “Downgrade” folder as “RUU”.

• Download this and save it to folder ‘RUU’. Connect phone to computer, and choose ‘Charge Only’ not ‘Disk Drive’. Enable USB Debugging, and disable Fastboot.

• Open runme.cmd file and then you just need to follow the on screen instructions. Once it’s done, you now need to run the RUU in the RUU folder (Remember it erases all data so if you need to, backup everything).

• Now, you will see that the HBoot version will be 1.12.0000 which you can find it out from the Settings > About Phone.

• Now, you will have to visit the revolutionary.io website and click on the “Download for Windows” and then download plus extract the .zip folder to fill in the boxes for the beta key.

• After this you will have to fill in the details like,

Your Operating System: Windows/Linux (Depending on yours)
Your Device: HTC Incredible S
HBOOT Version: 1.13.0000
Serial Number: (Your serial number)

• Copy and paste the beta key in the notepad file and then you will have to save the same in your desktop. Ensure that all the data is correct and is correct.

• Connect phone, choose ‘Charge Only’, enable USB Debugging and disable Fast boot mode. After this run the revolutionary.exe file and when it asks you to input beta key, enter the same.

• When it asks you whether you want to flash Clockwork Mod Recovery, type y and as soon as this task is done, the cmd will close.

• Ensuring that you have S Off the boot loader, you can now proceed to rebooting the device into boot loader if you are not and then open up recovery, it should go to Clockwork Mod Recovery.

• While phone is in Clockwork Mod, connect phone to computer, select Mounts and Storage by using the volume buttons to move and power to select.

• Select mount sdcard (the sd card directory should pop up on your computer screen) and download the root .zip file and save it to your computer. Ensure that the files are not being extracted.

• Copy the root .zip file to the root of your sdcard and wait for it to transfer (not in any folders, just on the sd card itself). Select “unmounts sd card” in your device and select “Go Back”.

• Select Install zip from sdcard and choose the root .zip file and once the file is updated successfully, you now need to wait for the device to get rebooted.

• Once the device is booted successfully, download Root checker app to check whether the device is rooted or not and then install the superuser app from the Google PLAY Store.

Tip: If the device refuses to get rooted or say gets into the boot loop mode, you need to again follow the above procedure to root your htc incredible S device.
