Please do follow these steps precisely:
1) hardware:
clean the contacts of the battery with a sharp object like scratching it with a pin, also clean the contacts of the battery terminal on the fone panel too with a contact cleaner spray or just scratch the pins with a blade. then try it on.

2) software
first download latest official os from blackberryrocks.com and install on your system. then delete vendor file. afterwards run desktop manager and plug fone to pc without battery. Then ensure You are disconnected from the internet before clicking on update. only plug the battery back to the fone when you see reconnecting jvm. wait till the flashing process is done.

keep me posted
cheers

if the pc recognises the device, then there is a good chance you can recover your device.

go here and download the quick installer file for the 9800, double click on the file and when it opens (it's a dos window), connect your device and wait for it to load.

post your results please.

best wishes
