BB 8820 - Change IMEI/Email address

Hi Guys

I really hope someone can help me on this one as I'm totally stummped!

My Sis gave me her BB 8800 a while back after her contract with Orange expired, which I left to rot in a drawer as I was happy with my HTC, this however, has recently met a watery grave, so I decided to give the BB a go. This was unlocked online and I updated both my Device's software to 5.0 as well as the Desktop Manager.

The phone works fine and I can browse internet, make calls etc... The niggle is that I cannot seem to add my email address to the BB messenger.

I have her old email address and Password, however both the BB messenger on the phone and the website say that the login/PW is incorrect.

I assume that this is due to the her service being suspended from Orange.

What is the best way to resolve this? My operator (Vodafone) says that Orange have to delete my devices IMEI from their records to allow them to register it.

Can I change the IMEI number and start from scratch?

TIA

Jan

I believe that calling Orange's Tech Support by your sister is enough. If she can provide all the necessary information needed to unregister it can be done without changing the IMEI/PIN.

Won't they jam the phone once they realise its being used on another network?

NO, as long as the phone is out of contact and all bills paid, the phone belongs to you sister for her to do as she wishes.
