bb 9800 help please

hi all new to the forum
i need some help please i have a bb 9800 torch
it was locked to t-mobile when i got it second hand of a friend
i took it to this guy to get it unlocked he had trouble unlocking it at first but then showed me it was unlocked by putting an o2 sim in it ,it comes up with o2 on the screen with EDGE good signal i can use the internet ,bm facebook etc but cant make or receive calls or text mes,ive checked the sim card identity and associations they are all disabled ,can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Please read BB FAQ here particularly point number 22, 23, 27 and you should be able to make and receive calls with your 9800.
