I have the same problem with a BB 8900: after entering code phone hangs (it just freezez) no matter if unlock code is good or wrong, I have to take out the battery -lucky counter remains 10 after evrey entry. I have also tryed restoreing new firmware. Phone is locked on Movistar Spain.
Any option???

What's easy?... to unlock a BlackBerry???...I knew that!!!
....but here we are faceing a problem if you have read carefully: phone hangs after entering code(no matter if it's a good or a bad code,and counter remains on 10)
...I have resolved my problem by selling a old UniversalSim to the client since I didn't find any other working solutions and phone is fully working now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To All , Try using JL_Cmder v1.9.3 and wipe the software ... after that download Original OS from the official site and then install it ..

It should work !!!!!!!!

What does battery have to do with this problem???
Are you saying that trying to unlock the phone with other battery coud solve the problem?...I don't think so (The battery was the last thing I think about, I have opened the phone,clean the PCB, made update/downgrade firmware still the same)
As I have read on other forums the devices that are still on waranty and faceing this problem are beeing changed with new ones since there is no chance of reparing...
