Question Blackberry 9300, Dead, no red light, no charge

Hello Everyone, I have just been given a blackberry 9300, which looks OK, no water damage. all seals were intact.
But it won't switch on, there is no red light when a fully charged battery is installed, and it doesn't seem to charge.
It is not detected by Blackberry Desktop Manager, BBSAK or MFI multiloader.
The only thing that happens is there is a very quiet, but high pitched whistle for about a second when the battery is pluggged in or cable is connected.
Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem may be?

Thanks if you can help.
