blackberry GPRS without BIS - GSM-Forum

hi

I recently purchased a Blackberry 8700g (apparently g,b,c all the same). My problem is that i cannot use the GPRS without first signing up with a BIS package from my service provider. I tried entering the APN manually on all available networks (with the correct SIM cards) but i am still getting the message 'connection refused'. Is there a work around this?

hey there
have the same problem. there seems to be some kind of header or signature being sent from the blackberry and the service provider has blocked this phone from using the gprs on the network. tried various sim cards from various networks. Same error 'connection refused'.

Searched google and other guys in non South African service providers have success by entering the APN, usually is internet with no password
