Member: 1629643 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Bold 9780 - Water Damage - Won't turn on I am sure this could be fixed. I have a bold 9780 and it was put through the washing machine. I cleaned the board and removed all the corrosion that I could see. I then put it in a hydro-sonic with a special circuit board rust remover and I also used distilled water. Should be no more corrosion on this thing. When I put a battery in, I get nothing. When I plug it into the computer, it registers it for a few seconds. No lights, No LCD, No keyboard lights. The only sign of life I get is when I plug it in and I hear the sound of the computer connecting to it. What should I look for? Has anybody run into something similar? Please help. Regards, Chady |

Member: 1629643 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | What thinner would you recommend? Also, in regards to removing the BB shields I haven't really had any luck. The best way I found to remove the shield was to put solder around the shield, heat it up and then pick it up, but it's very time consuming. Is there a better way to remove the shield? |

what i do is i have a mini rotary tool which i use tactfully to cut the shields from the top (it requires some carefulness though) to access the components embedded under the shields and then i use the cleaning liquids (in my case isopropanol-100% alcohol and an electronic cleaning solvent i purchased in a shop) to clean the components with a brush and sometimes i use an ultrasonic cleaning machine for the cleaning purposes. hope this helps. best wishes and seasons greetings. | |
