Member: 258172 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 10,367 | The BlackBerry smartphone is detected as a RIM Mass storage device instead of a BlackBerry device in the Windows Device Manager. Cause Summary of Causes This issue may be caused by one of the following: Either incorrect drivers were installed for BlackBerry smartphone, or Windows Update has not been run on the BlackBerry device user's computer since September 1, 2006. RIM Mass Storage Mode or media card is not functioning correctly. The USB port is disabled. The USB adapter is not up to date. The USB controllers are not functioning correctly. Resolution Cause 1 Either incorrect drivers were installed for BlackBerry smartphone, or Windows Update has not been run on the BlackBerry smartphone user's computer since September 1, 2006. Resolution Install on the computer USB Driver 3.x (included with BlackBerry Desktop Software version 4.2). On the computer, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. Open the Device Manager, and then expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right click RIM Mass storage device, and then select Update Driver. Windows will search for the drivers using Windows Update. Cause 2 RIM Mass Storage Mode or media card is not functioning correctly. Resolution Perform the following: Set Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode and Mass Storage Mode Support to No. Remove the media card from the BlackBerry smartphone. If the issue still persists, set Media Card Support to Off. Cause 3 The USB port is disabled. Resolution Configure the USB Root Hub settings to prevent the computer from turning off the USB port. To do this, perform the following: On the computer, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. Right-click USB Root Hub, and then select Properties. Click the Power Management tab. Clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option, and then click OK. Cause 4 The USB adapter is not up to date. Resolution Install the latest version of the USB adapter on the computer. Cause 5 The USB controllers are not functioning correctly. Resolution Remove and reinstall the USB controllers. Note: Verify that the original drivers software that came with the computer is readily available before removing USB controllers. In all instances, contact the computer manufacturer for guidance with the exact steps involved in completing this procedure. On the computer, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Uninstall all available instances of USB Root Hub. Restart the computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the USB controllers. br |

Member: 258172 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 10,367 | @srkhan You should have SIM card installed to apply unlock code. If you have SIM card installed, you should see ID for SIM card under "SIM Card" screen by Options -> Advanced Options -> SIM Card. To apply unlock code to your BB8830 Options -> Advanced Options -> SIM Card -> type "mepd" , then type "mep2" It will ask for "Enter Network MEP Code (10 left):" From this field , now you can type "unlock" code. |
