I've found it works more stable in WINDOWS XP.

If you have a PC with XP installed, I have fool proof method of installing MFI, even I managed to install it, .

After a lot of trial and error, I came up with this method, and it works for me everytime, .

This is how to install the sofware to the PC.

This program seems to work better when installed onto a machine running "XP".

Install the latest BlackBerry "Desktop Manager" for your model BlackBerry.

Do a full backup of your BlackBerry data and applications.

Install the latest BlackBerry "Operating System" for your handset to your PC.

Delete the "Vendor.xml" file which is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\

After downloading the "8" "MFI Multiloader" Rar files, "Right click" on "Part 1" and press "Extract Here"

"2" extra icons will appear after extracting has completed.

Click on the "MML Setup" icon, and a small window will appear saying "Welcome to the MFI Multiloader Setup Wizard"

Click to install, and it will put the relevant files into, C:\MML.

Copy, and paste the "MML" folder (that was revealed after extracting) into C:\, this will replace the folder that the "MFI Setup Wizard" installed.

Cut and Paste "BbDevMgr" from C:\MML\bin and place it into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\USB Drivers.

This is how to "Unlock the handset".

Remove the "Sim card" from the handset, press the "BB" logo on the keypad, open the "Manage Connections" application, and "Turn All Connections Off"

Make sure that the PC is "NOT" connected to the internet, then click on desktop icon, "MFI Multiloader"

A window will open, make sure that the "Full erase" and "Auto start" buttons are "Unchecked"

Connect the BlackBerry via the USB cable.

After a while various drivers and sofware will be installed onto the BlackBerry.

If successful, the "BUSY" icon will change to read "PASS", and a number "1" will appear on the BlackBerry screen.

It is now safe to disconnect the USB cable from the handset.

The screen on the handset will now turn white, and a message will appear on the screen, type "START" on your BlackBerry keypad.

This how to "De-brand" your handset.

Make sure the handset is NOT connected to the PC, and with MFI open, press Shift, Ctrl, Alt, F12 together, this opens another pop down menu.

Connect the handset once more, and the options which were greyed out will now be available to use.

Click on the button that says "Load VSM", and you want to install the VSM file labeled "VSM-09712-002", this will get rid of the original carriers splash screen, and replace it with a BlackBerry one instead.

This is how to "Reinstall the Operating System" on the handset.

Make sure that the latest version of the "Operating System" for the handset being unlocked is installed on the PC, then re-connect the handset via the USB cable.

From C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion, click on the "Apploader" icon, and follow the on screen instructions to reinstall the

BlackBerry Operating System, and desired Applications to the handset.

After a while, you will be prompted to "Close" the "Apploader", the handset will now continue to load the rest of the files by itself.

This process may take quite sometime, but it will all come good in the end.

When the handset "Reboots", disconnect the USB cable, and follow the "Setup Wizard" instructions, and configure the handset to your own liking.

All being well, you should now have an "Unlocked" BlackBerry in your hands, .
