Issues Unlocking a T-Mobile 8320

This is my first post here but i've been reading threads a bit this morning. Lastnight my gf just got a t-mobile branded BB 8320 she purchased on ebay. The problem is T-Mo US requires u enter you phone # and account info when you try to DL the newest OS version. I tried using the ATT version of the OS but had issues finding how to load it on in desktop manager.. sorry, i'm a blackberry newbie.. more of an iphone hacker myself.

So can anyone give me some advice on unlocking? She's uneasy with the whole thing but obviously wants it done cus she uses AT&T.. so any advice or encouraging words? :P

no need to unlock the 8320 if you just want to put new version OS.
just uninstall the version of OS that is on your PC now. Then install the new one. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete the vendor file. Then run the Loader.exe file. And it should be all good to go!

also what would the key difference be between this software version of an unlock.. and the actual "unlock code" from T-Mo?
