Thumbs up Updating the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Device Software

Quote:

If you need to backup your device data, back it up before performing this upgrade to 10.0.10.263.

A Mac OS X version is not available at this time. Users wishing to upgrade will need to locate a Windows compatible machine.

Please be sure to create a second BlackBerry ID for your Dev Alpha device. If you use your existing BlackBerry ID, all BBM contacts could be transferred from your current BlackBerry device to your Dev Alpha device and they will be erased from your current BlackBerry device. You will NOT be able to automatically transfer your BBM contacts back to your current device at this time.

  1. Ensure your battery has at least 20% charge and that you have a working Wi-Fi connection.
  2. On your device, tap the Settings icon and tap Software Updates.
  3. Tap the Update button.

Still can't update your device?

If you experience any difficulties updating or reloading the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Device Software using the above described method please follow the steps below.
  1. Download the Dev Alpha Autoloader 10.0.10.263 (Windows).

  1. Turn off your BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha device.
  2. Run the file Autoload-DevAlpha-10.0.10.263.exe.
  3. When prompt shows “Connecting to Bootrom”, connect your device to your computer and turn it on.
  4. If you have a password set on your device, type your password when prompted.
  5. After your device restarts, complete the set up wizard.
