Nintendo DS /DS lite Firmware Version

Checking the Firmware Version

Different firmware versions have different behaviuors if a DS Game is ejected whilst Pictochat is running. To determine your DS firmware version, follow these steps:

1. Insert an authentic Nintendo DS Game Card into your Nintendo DS
2. Turn on DS (hold Select+Start if you have autostart enabled in the settings)
3. Enter Pictochat
4. Enter any chat room
5. Eject the Game Card from the DS

Result:
* v1: Pictochat hangs
* v2: two grayish blue screens
* v3: two dark green screens
* v4: two golden yellow screens
* v5: two magenta screens (DS lite units that we know of have this)
* v6: two dark blue screens (un-confirmed new DSes [new odd models of the Lite such as Crystal+ Perl + Saphire] have this)

Nintendos DSi Firmware Version

Here's how to check

Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main menu
Check the right hand corner of the top screen which says VER 1.x

VER 1.x is the version number. If it shows VER 1.4, it means that your DSi console has been updated with the latest firmware and the current flashcards can't be used on your DSi consoles.The firmware update on DSi console can't be reversed.

just got an DSi with firmware version 1.3E and need some advice as am completely new on this.

1. Which card is compatible with it?
2. Anyone in particular or shop which can supply this?

Was quite rushed before.... am just going for the R4i card. seems its the best.
