if you have PLUGINS RUNNING, TRY to disable all.

try not to use umd ( remove UMD at tray ) then use memory stick to play games.

i think your umd drive has problem.

try formatting your flash1 folder. enter recovery menu, scroll down to advance and press enter. then scroll down to "format flash1 folder" and press enter (don't panic, this will not brick your psp). the psp will then reset itself and you will need to re-enter the time, date etc.

to check to see if you have a fake mem card, (with the mem card in the psp) highlight the "memory card" icon in the "game" icon on the psp's xmb (main screen) and press triangle. then select "information". a small list will appear with your mem cards details. look down to where it says "Magicgate". if it reads "supported" next to it, then you have an original mem card. but if it reads "unknown", then you have a fake.

did you format your mem card after you install v5.00m33? if not, copy all your game saves and anything you wish to keep and format the mem card using the psp's format utility (found in the "System Settings" icon). replace the game/s and try again.

have you enabled the "use no umd" option? you can do this by pressing "select" in the xmb, and the vsh menu will appear. scroll down to "umd iso mode" and press left or right on your d pad until it reads either "m33 driver" or "sony NP9660". then exit the vsh menu and try again.

also im not sure if your aware, but there is a new version of v5.00m33 available. if all of the above doesn't work, then you could try and update to v5.00m33-4. that might fix your problem.

thx for a nice answer
but
psp brought to me by a friend with this problem , psp was at 3.71m33 , same state , freezing when runing a game , from memory stick or from original UMD.
first thing i did was upgrading to 5m33.... and format the memory stick ..
thought problem is the same. psp also freezing when exiting recovery mode.
also tested with other memory stick.
also tested with no memory stick at all and original umd.
i think i have formated flash1 but not sure , i will test this again.
i did uses idstorge recovery same problem.

if it still doesn't work, you could always try and use a pandora's battery again to reinstall the custom firmware. there is a new version of DC available. and it will install v5.00m33-4. and you can reset your idstorage keys in on dcv8.
