You are absolutely right. I forgot to patch the NC. Once I did that, everything worked like a charm.

Thanks again.

Apologies, I fogot to say that these maps were Western and Central European maps which won't fit on my XL LIVE which is only 2GB in size

I'd appreciate if someone can recommend suitable maps. I will give 885.4010 a try in the mean while....

I had the same problem with WCE, so I switched to Western Europe, in this case 885.4009. It should fit if you don't copy the cspeech files to your device. Difference compared to 885.4010 is that 885.4009 has ALG and IQ.

As I told you, forum knows better!

I'd check the TT site for map size, then I would look for the compatibility chart for 885 maps, it's a picture floating around (google it), and finally I'd choose the one with most features available, given size limitations.

Try out LoquendoTTS from post #3301 too.
Use the latest dsa from April 21st, with nc v9.450 .

xxl/530s/540s 2gb computer voices problem (64mb)

Device cno starts with rw****** which tt device identifier says doesn't do tts. I've tried extracting numerous versions of loquendotts directory to it but still same problem. (the voice files don't show up on device menus. Manage my xxl in tthome shows them but says they're not compatible with device & should be deleted to save space.)
I'm running nc 9.430 with ukroi 885.4009 on device patched with fast activ*te (or poss bbs to*ls, can't remember which i used) ALG & IQ routes wkg OK & cspeech files are in map folders.
Does anyone know if/how to get spoken street names working on this device?
TIA

Have you got a folder called ..... voices ..... on either the device or your sd card ?
If not ... just make a folder called .... voices .... and then copy the voice files (both .chk & .vif files for each voice) to there, and see if that works.

Downloading a Loquendo folder is not enough.
You only see the computer voices if you also have a corresponding .tlv file in your voices folder, for Kate that would be kate-L7.tlv.
These files define how the TT finds the computer voices.
But what device do you have? It does not really help to list 3 devices.

Well the only thing I'm sure of is its marked xxl. The thing came with old western europe maps (second hand) and on the tt site 'what model do i have?' it shows the three models. Didn't think before to look In the ttgo.bif file but it shows DeviceName=TomTom XXL IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XXL IQ Routes ....apologies.
I don't have the kate-L7.tlv in voices, only .vif & .chk files.

You can try my fullbackup from here.
It contains a full Loquendo folder and the folder voices with the corresponding files for Kate and Susan.
Either use it as it is or copy both folders onto your device.

Nope copying the two folders over didn't work but thanks for the link.
Kate doesn't show-up on the device but is there once I connect to tthome - it shows as 'this item cannot be used with the current version of the tomtom application on your device'
(I put up to date maps on a mates xxl classic for him and used the same map &Nc and his works with speak street names - so problem is not the nc or in map folder)
Afterwards, I altered the features section in the ttgo.bif file to allow tts (without tthome running) and then used the windows eject device but when the device started, it wrote over the changes in ttgo.bif.
Thanks for the replies so far folks. Any other ideas?
