First attempts !

Hello there

Well this is my first attempt at posting on such a site so please be gentle with me.

I recently purchaced a faulty Tomtom One Xl and have succesfuly repaired the hardware. I updated the unit on Tomtom Home and then set about looking at how to update the maps.

I have spent hours trawling your forum and eventually plucked up the courage to download some maps, keygen and patching tools. After a tentative few hours I managed to patch the system and install the new maps.

Sooo a huge thankyou to all the contributors who have posted the variuos components that I used.

Having completed the job it all seems straightforward (easy for me to say now !!!) but I've obviously still got a long way to go.

If I can help anyone with hardware issues please feel free to ask.

I am running 8.010 system as updated by Home then patched.

The maps are V8.10.1870 UK and Ireland no speed cameras as yet !

Is there a more upto date version of map or indeed system that can be installed if so could someone provide a link.

Also I wonder if the Western Europe One XL has more memory, how else are the Western Europe maps together with the system installed in 1 GB ?

Thanks in advance

Ian

Having looked at the downloads the file sizes are very small 2 and 8 Kbytes there is also a reference to Cryptload. Are the downloads links to the Cryptload site ? Excuse my ignorance !

Basically, Cryptload is a software, Download it, then with the map link which is a .dlc link, open up that .dlc link in cryptload and the software will then automatically download the map for you. It saves you having to download different parts, Cryptload downloads everything associated with the .dlc link which is the map.

Hope it works out,

Mo

Thanks again Mo

I'll have a go at downloading Crytload and see how I get on, will let you know. Didn't realise how adictive this would get. Thought after getting the Tomtom up and running that would be it ! But no now I want the latest System and the latest maps. Just getting greedy I think !!!

I think the thing I had failed to spot with the Western Europe Maps is the subtle difference in name Western Europe as opposed to Western And Centeral Europe. Is this how they manage to squeeze it into the 1Gb ?

Thanks again

It sure is addictive, Its normal, everybody wants the latest system and latest maps, afterall its better to have up-to-date maps as it improves the driving experience.

Yeah there is also the Western & Central Eurpope Map which covers more countries but it will not fit onto your 1GB Internal I don't think. Western Europe deos squeeze into 1GB internals thats why they have that map and also some people may only need those countries.

Let me know how you get on,

Mo

I Looked on page 202, there seem to be two folders one Nav Basic Pack and the other just the TTSystem file. Can it be as simple as simply copying the TTSystem file !!! I think not. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction.

I managed to download and install Crypload and am downloading the Western European maps as I type.

Thank you very much for help

I have tried to reply earlier but doesn't look like it wants to come through.... Hopefully this one works....

Yes, it is as simple as just copying over the patched ttsystem file, that will then enable your maps to work. Enjoy the Western Europe Map

Hi Mo

Thanks yet again.

Struggling to reply, the forum seem very slow, so many users such a good forum I guess.

If I can clarify on point. When I patched the XL the first time it modified the NPNavigator file(think this was the name !) and not the ttsystem file. If I copy the new ttsystem file do I need to re-patch and if so is a new patcher required ?

Probably won't get chance to try this over Easter, doubt the misses will let me near a computer :-( but will let you know how I get on.

Thanks

Ian

lol.... It should work with just putting in the new ttsystem file to be honest, if it doesn't let me know.

Also, hope you have a great Easter.

Hi Mo

Well back from Northumberland (great weekend thanks, weather couldn't have been better). Was keen to try out the ttsystem file. I copied it into the root of the XL and rebooted, after the splash screen nothing ! Blind panic, but a prelonged press of the power button allowed me to access through the PC and replace the original ttsystem file, phew !

I suspect there may be more to it that simply copying the ttsystem file, any thoughts ?

Thanks again

Ian

Hey, Glad you had a great Easter, Yeah weather was absolutely fantastic too.

Sorry but I have forgotten which Navcore you are trying to install again, and also which stage you have got to.

If your trying to install 8.010 then here is a ttsystem file I have posted up: http://www.2shared.com/file/4646425/.../ttsystem.html

Hi Mo

Thanks for replying, hope you had a *** Easter too, over all too quickly.

I currently have 8.010 installed on an tomtom Xl. I am looking to upgrade to latest maps which you kindly provided links to. You also provided links to 8.410 Navcore. I belive you suggested simply copying over the ttsystem file onto the currently installed 8.010. This didn't seem to work, I suspect I need to do more. There was a 8.410 basic pack with the ttsystem link (page 202 of the tomtom 8 forum). To be honest this looks far more involved and I wasn't sure what to do with this !

Perhaps you could point me in the right direction again !

Thanks

Ian

No No No, You don't just copy over the 8.410 ttsystem file, you also have to copy over the whole BasicPack contents along with the ttsystem file. You can just over-right the contents over the 8.010 contents, I would make a backup first just incase.

Mo.
