Tom Tom one Uk maps update and firmware - GSM-Forum

I've just bought a TomTom one off ebay that needs its maps updating and its firmware. I am correct in believing that i can get the latest firmware from the TomTom site by downloading TomTom home?

As for maps, I will only use it occansionlly as i don't do many non local journeys so i think the £80 for map updates is a bit of a ripp off. Could someone point me in the right direction for a map update for free please and instructions how to updates it would be great also

My tom Tom turned up in the post. I downloaded Tom Tom Home Version 2.9.7.3256 and it updates the unit and voices and gps update, then it wanted me to spend a small fortune on new maps, voices, speed cameras etc, which i declined.

After 10mins playing with the unit i found the page with the following info on it. Hopefully someone will be able to make better sense of thean me, although from looking on the site i can see my maps are well out of date.

Device: AK5sl BANT6
App 7.903 (9183 / 081205)
OS:2344 29MB Ram (6.6MB free)
GPS v1.21, Boot 5.0500

Map UK & IE plus major roads of WE V660.1219

The unit says that is currently in a unknown road even though it has been there for 30yrs so I'm thinking my maps need updating.

So any help would be much appreicated please
