Hi Bu Many thanks for everything you provided. Now just to make sure I do it the correct way.Confirming the way i am supposed to replace the exisitng software version on Go520.
1) I should copy the version 8 files on to the root directory of the go520 and by doing this will it replace all the exisitng files? or am I supposed to delete the exisitng files and then copy the V8 files.
2) Tomtom Home should be running or not.
3) I use a 1 gb card with it do i need to format the card after installing the v8 or it will work as it is.
Sorry to be bothering you too much.
cheers

Hi Bu.

managed to do all that, it was simple with all you had provided and as you had said earlier. thanks for that. One more thing. When I copy Speed camera POIs into the map folder and select each individually for alert, I do not get an option to choose the voice( vocal instructions) warning for it, the only option it gives is to select a warning tones( polite 1, 2 etc).
Can you please help with this.

thanks

BuMobles,

Thanx again for the keygen link. If understand you correctly, after I have copied the 8.10 FW & NA 8.10 into my TT 720, ALL I have to do is run the keygen. There are several keygens in Keygen V2.3. Which one do I run? Thanx again!!!

The simplest method is to copy the META.file and PNA.file from the MAP (NOT from the meta.txt) into the folder called, "insert_meta_from_Map_here" (NOTE Bu has left an old META and PNA and a DCT file in there to show you which type of files to use but you will need to delete them out of there first)
Now click on the, "RunMeforDCT" command script.
Select 1. then,
Select 1. again.
Copy the newly created DCT file out of the "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder and into your Map folder. ( and the META and PNA files if you dragged them in there instead of copying them)
Job done.

Incidently the files that Bu left in the "insert_meta_from_Map_here" don't have a meta.txt map entry.
You will get a "fake" message for these files if you try to create a DCT file for them. Ignore and delete them before running your North America map.

No worky is rather vague. go over these instructions and post where it fails.

Make a folder for your map and name it WITHOUT spaces. Like North_America_810_1907 and leave it on your PC for the moment.
Look inside that folder and locate the files called META and PNA
Copy both files to the folder "insert_meta_from_Map_here" ( remove the ones left there by Bu first)
Now click on the, "RunMeforDCT" command script.
You should see 3 options
Select number 1 which says Run it for Navcore 8.010 and higher.
You then get 2 options
Select 1 which says Run Keygen for insert_meta_from_Map_here.
You should see a DCT file appear in the insert_meta_from_Map_here folder.
Copy all the files in the insert_meta_from_Map_here into your map folder.
Place your map folder in the root of your TomTom i.e. NOT inside any other folder.

Make sure the meta.txt text document is in the folder called Progs.
There should be an entry in it which says:
; North_America_810_1907
E0 30 FA B1 C7 A7 65 FD 91 EF 13 A2 87 FB FC 46 North_America-15.meta

Thanx rytenuff. I thought the "No worky" would get your attention. I'll play with this tomorrow and give you a full report.

Rytenuff,
I carefully followed all of the directions above & successfully created a .dct file, which I copied to the map folder (North_America_2GB_v8.10)along with the .pna & .meta files.
I deleted the entire device internal memory and copied BuMoblies 8.10 firmware into it. Due to a lack of remaining space on the internal memory, I copied the map folder onto a 2GB SD. Shut down device & inserted SD card. Booted device and received the following: Problem with map You cannot use this map on this device: North_America

Rytenuff,

There APPEAR to be 2 different NA 8.10 maps. North America_ 2GB v8.10 for the TT730 device & North America v8.10 for the TT930 device. If this is correct, are the metas different?

@tendriver,
Open the PNA file of your map with a text editor like Notepad. You can read the version there in plain text.
