LG Optimus T (P509) UMTS Antenna - GSM-Forum

I recently unlocked an LG Optimus T (from Tmobile) because the carrier lied about having good service in my area. I switched it to H2O wireless and the phone works like ten times better.

But upon doing this, I realized that the 3G doesn't work (or at least the icon doesn't appear) but the data is still much faster than before.

I did some research and discovered that due to At&t (H2O's parent company) and T-mobile using different UMTS frequencies that 3G would not work. I was looking up solutions, but everywhere I looked says that the UMTS frequency is reliant upon hardware (from the manufacturer) and firmware.

I am willing to disassemble this phone. Has anyone ever tried to actually replace the antenna so they can receive 3G service on a phone that had a different UMTS frequency? And if so, how did it work out? If it worked, is there anywhere i can go for directions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
