BR, Alex
regarding your manual is all very clear now, but regretted for some like me has a little English and is difficult to search the forums for accurate information

Today we have released our new update for DCT4. I see already some people
have the so called 'dead' devices.
After so much postings, explanations, pdfs, all the debugging done by me and
Davor, people come here and scream: 'Please help, my device is dead'.
So to make it clear:
1. Follow very carefully the instructions in the Remote Tools readme file
2. To be sure check the system folder of your sd card, the latest update
driver is called gUpdU.sys, drag it to notepad, you should see this:
Remote Firmware Update Build: 0.0.0.165
(if different - you have older version)
3. If you get error during update, you can unplug and plug the device and
should be able to press Update again
So basically no need for recovery. Not going to even go back to formatting
the SD card and stuff - things already said million times, here.
So basically anyone who fail to follow those tips, i take is as a big disrespect
to our efforts to make the whole process stable and error free.
Later on i will disable the recovery option in the server and will be back maybe
in 1-2 months if on at all. So if you plan to kill your device because you are
lazy to read/search, do it in the next 2-3 hours as this is your only chance

hi sheck this

How to restore "Dead" Genie-Universal after OS UPDATE with Remote-Tools

After you have read and understood this, please contact one of the Product Managers(Zero23, John_Doe) or write an email to support@genieuniversal.com with Subject "Genie Recovery Request" to enable your Genie-Universal Serial Number for the Restore-Process.
(Due to security reasons this is NOT enabled on default!)
Do no forget to include your Genie-Universal Serial number in the message

ok guys, once again:

if your Genie was version 186r or later(v191) then you DO NOT need the recovery feature at all!!!
If the firmware update fails (whatever the reasons may be) Genie will stay in "Recovery-Mode", you can see that the Genie LCD will turn BLUE(Blue Screen=RecoveryMode)

So since your clip is in RecoveryMode(Blue Screen) you can ALWAYS run "UPDATE OS" in Remote-Tools -again and again, as many times as needed to finish the upgrade process.

In case the upgrade-process fails all the time, the only reason is bad SD-Card Content/Format.
In this case Format the SD-Card on WinXP PC to FAT32 and copy LATEST SD-Card content to the SD-Card.
Then simply do the "UPDATE OS" in Remote-Tools again and your clip will be fine!

This above is valid for Devices with Firmware v186 or later.
