Hi,

The only change is we added some new power regulator for the phone power line
on the RJ-45 port. This one can handle 1 Amp and more.

There is nothing wrong with the old HW, the change is to allow buggy symbian
models to work fine in Local/Test mode. This is caused by bug in those phones -
when they are in testing mode they keep all the hardware on board powered up,
so old genie had hard time providing the extra current. I am talking about failure
models like N95/N96 (supposed iPhone killers ) All the rest, specially RAP3
are ok. But even those are unlockable on current HW, just check old threads how
to do it.

So to summarize - no need to upgrade your current HW, future updates will
work on all HW versions: 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8

BR, Alex

Hi,
just to try to make it more clear with the colour and the hw
The new stock has also white clips, not only blacks.
I wrote it before, personally i use one of the very first Genie's ever released,
using it almost every day in our shop. Doesn't matter what phone (must be
supported of course!) works perfectly. There is no point for customers with
"old" hardware to change the clip, they will not have any professional advantage,
updates will be released for all clips, no matter what colour or hw-version.
In first line the HW improvement is made for few Models which Alex said, like
N95 8gb etc. but even this phone and my hardware 1.6 doesnt ever make
problems. it is working without external power, phone goes into local mode
only via adaptor with 7pin fbus cable, and unlocks in seconds

So dont be scared if you are using old hw, which actually isnt really old!
The Clip have to do the Job, thats the important thing, and if it does it,
like mine e.q. keep it. You will get the updates with whatever HW version
you have.

best Regards
Sasha
