Genie clip update procedures step by step


1: power on Genie clip and press right hand (mode) botton
2:select usb disk and connect Genie to computer
3:run DCT4plus.exe and follow procedures
4:when comleted,click back botton and genie will reboot
5:now press again right hand botton to select mode and this time select firmware update and genie will restart again

now enjoy unlocking of dct4plus phones with upp 3168 with out using computer.


for those who have this error

" No Genie Universal connected " they should Rename the label of SD card to GENIExxxxxx - xxxxxx is the serial number of the genie.


Note:those who use 10 pin cable must not use Genie clip adapter and those who use 8 pin cable must use Genie clip adapter but in resistor switch they should select NC

Hi, I am having problems, I have followed the advise above to the letter. I have run the new software, installed the required. At the end of the installation I leave the USB and Power cable connected, Pressed the back button to mode, pressed mode and selected Firmware Update - clip says checking file - Please use charger. Then nothing, no upgrade, I have tried 7 times, I have downloaded a fresh copy of the software (just in case) but same problem. I cannot upgrade to v0.0.0.181. My Genie is still v 0.0.0.161r. I have read all the threads but cannot get this unit upgraded.
In Programs - Script - 4plus.amx is installed

connect genie to comp in usb mass device mode. open sd card, open settings, you see there a folder osimg overwrite this with the new version...

Hi, I have connected Genie to my PC via the USB to Mini USB cable, Selected MODE - USB DISK, opened MY COMPUTER - GENIE10**** appears. I have opened this and found a Directory called SYSTEM. I can see "OSIMG.SEF" the date of this file is 22/12/09. I would have thought this is the new version? The History txt says:

"Genie Universal Firmware Release Notes:-----------------------------v 0.0.0.181 - 22.12.2009 - Support for DCT4/DCTPLUS flashing via standalone Pawn script

So I think I have the software on Genie but when I select MODE - FIRMWARE UPGRADE with the battery and charger connected nothing happens......

now disconnect all, no charger no usb no batt, restart and check firmware in first screen. otherwise repeat update with right button without connecting to comp.

tryed this, start up screen says v0.0.0.161r HW 1.8 + serial number ***
run F/W update again without usb and no batttery but again nothing happens. If I select menu - About this says I am still on v0.0.0.161r????/

Update:
My supplier supplied a USB Ipod Power Supply to run Genie. I tried a CHARGER which I had from a previous faulty Genie immediatly the battery starts to charge, 1st time I have seen that. I reinstalled the new software, run FIRMWARE UPDATE I get ERROR7 and BINGO I have an updated Genie.
Thank you supplier that wasted 5/6 hours.
Anyone selling Genie take note, a power supply is not the same as a charger!!!

why i instell step by setp the dctsplus, and also updata to 0.0.0.181r, but when i try to run 4plus.amx, but show me execerr:12, cannot run. can anybody help me to find what's the problem?

Check it says v0.0.0.181 on the start up screen.

just see look inside your genie box:
press : menu - about in the up have write genie universal device version
in indentity :10xxxx (genie sn box) 1.8 (mean H.W )

thats correct, your device is updated. switch on genie, look at the bottom of the start up screen and you should see v0.0.0.181.
