Member: 1584363 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Ok, today I messed around with the sim more. I noticed when I power off and on the phone auto-detect seems to fail, at first. For example, I get it to recognize the sim and am able to receive, make calls. I power off the phone, turn it on, autodetect seems to fail and get 1 bar then says no sim card installed. I turn airplane mode on and off and get 1 bar again. Then Power off then on and it auto-detects the sims courier.....and am again able to make and receive calls. So it takes 2 power cycles to get reconnected to the sim. Anyway to avoid doing this twice or am I doing something wrong? |

Member: 1584363 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Yes, have seen the videos. My situation gets more interesting. The random pay as you go sim I bought actually works in locked iphones. I had no idea as thought ATT was building a monopoly on the US phone market. H20 works on locked iphones. So, I tried to activate a t-mobile sim.....well since att bought t-mobile, I'm having troubles to get it activated. So finally, I found simple mobile. I have not gotten it to work yet with rebel. It almost works, but get network failed error. I'm not sure if it is because the current simple mobile plan has no data. I have to wait 2 weeks until the data plan kicks in. Now I do see simple mobile show up in carriers list, and am able to select it, but the phone never locks onto the simple mobile network. Turn airplane mode on, wait for message, then turn airplane off, get message, then I get 5 bars before I get new voicemail message, then lost network error, then goes to 1 bar. Will have to wait 2 weeks and try again. Drama....I tell ya. Will just have the gf go to a shop in her country and have them show her the sim working on her phone and she will buy. |

Member: 1584363 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Update, after messing all day today when given a chance at work, I somehow got simple mobile to show up as the carrier. Am able to make and receive calls. So what I did different this time was enter the cellular data network info that is supplied on simple mobiles website for my phone. I left 3g, cellular data and data roaming on even though this sim is just voice and texts atm. After I get signal from simple mobile, I go to carriers and select simple mobile. I'm able to turn airplane mode on and off and it picks the network back up. Turn the phone off then back on and lose network. Glad to see the sim work, but powering off and on seems to be a problem for me atm. Am not giving up yet=) |

Member: 1584363 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | after many attempts, it is working. I can turn off and on, it picks signal back up. Pop sim in and out, no problem. Send receive texts np, call and receive calls np. It took me many attempts, but the results are reproducible atm. I turned 3g off this time after getting signal from sim since it does not support 3g. |

Can turn phone on and off, pop sim in and out, airplane mode on and off and it picks signal back up. Thank you very much, from both of us. |
