I dont know if this will help, but you can try to root manualy the phone and in Super User app to specify Automatic Allow. And try with some generic firmware something like 2.2.1 or 2.3.3 with open europe (ex. I9000XXJVK), not something regional.
Do a full whipe after flashing. Use 1.2.2 version with Pegasus, they did some improvements in this version.

Was this phone an emptyboard? Try to upgrade firmware to 2.3.3.
