Its because the phone cannot enter different mode, like local mode etc, To fix this first backup at least The NPC cert( the IMEI). This is sl2 phone, so no need to worry about simlock and all coz MX can unlock it successfully. Then do complete erase and then flash it again with latest firmware and then restore IMEI. If it can enter local mode, you can repair SD and simlock now. If still cannot enetr local mode, do a BB5 software downgrade fix which is in Service->Quick Fix.

follow steps -

- make imei backup no worry if rpl.pm is not backuped
-load unirap.bin in mcu ppm flash set
-now flash set with desired version of firmware no worry if version is old

use MT box with 10 pin cable for best result

You cannot backup full rpl if the phone cannot enter local mode. To backup IMEI, Go to Service->Imei & Security-> IMEI Rebuild, in the section, select NPC only(RAP NPC, not APE NPC) instead of All Section. That way, you backup the IMEI even if the phone cannot enter local mode. After backup erase and follow the instruction I've written above.
