alright m8

i have a k750i doing exactly the same thing as yours, i change imei using setool and multiserver cable by pressing unlock/repair with imei change ticked in settings and i get please insert correct sim, so i then wrote my original flash back up, back to the phone, and imei changes back to original

Good reading but as its quoted on that website..

"Changing IMEI is illegal in some countries, but repairman sometimes need to change handy's IMEI, and I guess that's exactly why this features is avalable in Cruiser or USB-Smart"

Unfortunately In the UK there is NO LEGAL REASON what so ever to change the IMEI not even by repairmen.
If flashing a phone changes the IMEI, then you must Not knowingley use that Box or device to Flash you phone in the 1st instance, because if by doing so the IMEI changes then You have broken the UK law and stand to be fined, Imprisoned or both.

I can see why some people need to do it i.e. using say UST Pro II to full flash a D500 or e800 for instance will change the IMEI so you would then need to rebuild it back to the original, But in theory and going by the Law Because you have changed it by flashing the Phone you are then liable..

Swings and roundabouts I suppose + I don't know if anybody has been convicted of imei Changing yet in the UK, But I bet the First case will be made an example of and well publisized...
