S710a Band lock


is it possible to modified this phone to 900Mghz by sw only ?

No. It is technically impossible without altering phone hardware.

ok ..so not possible by upload GDFS like in some Z1010 units .. ?

dont i give it a try ? is there a chance to damage the phone ?

btw congratulation for 3.90 its really awesome

Z1010 phones are equipped with hardware supporting 900MHz and 1800MHz bands.
Some of these phones have only one of these bands enabled. Thus you can enable the second band just by changing the bandlock.

But if your phone's hardware supports 950MHz/1800MHz/1900MHz and you change the bandlock to 900MHz/1800MHz/1900MHz, you will just lose the support for the 950MHz band.

its cingular phone so i think you meant 850MHZ ..

i have no idea if it have different H/W or not ..

i think i am gona give it shot by uploading S700 GDFS ..

do i need to upload firmware as well ?

thx for fast reply

Sorry, of course I've meant 850MHz.
Don't do it. It is futile, we've already tried that.
