Member: 1647 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 4 | W550i CID49 - insert SIM I got a 'white screen'-W550i to repair. Okay, this was without a problem possible and phone starts up now fine. BUT the phone only accepts two of 12 tested SIMs. In most cases phone tells after switching on: Insert SIM or press Demo. Only two SIMs work proper. The tested SIMs are between 3 years and 1 month in usage, also there are old and quite new UMTS-SIMs tested. At first I thought it might be a 'hidden' SIMlock, because the working SIMs are from the same operator, but two other SIMs from the same operator don't work. I tried to unlock automaticly and by code, to relock and afterwards to unlock again, tried to use different firmware versions without any result. Anyone knows about such a problem or maybe has a hint, how to solve this problem? (BTW.: phone is actually converted from red to brown and with fw R4BA041. I used a Rhode und Schwarz TestSIM GSM Phase2 and with this SIM inserted the phone also shows the :Insert SIM message. Seems to be a hardware failure (maybe?) because a R&S-SIM should be accepted anytime and anywhere, right? | |

Member: 1647 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 4 | Okay, maybe it's not a HW-problem, if there are some more people with this problem. And maybe it IS a hidden lock because today I got a third SIM of the same provider and this card also works fine. In my case the working SIM are from reseller debitel for E-Plus network. First card is with an UMTS/3G contract, second card is regular contract (non-UMTS-3G-SIM) and third woring card is a prepaid SIM without contract. Curious is that the Rhode&Schwarz Test-SIM isn't accepted, because this SIM should override all SIMlocks. BTW: What is the difference between W550i R4CA004_Beta and W550i R4CA004 firmware? |
