You will need to decide to what level of repair you are planning to undertake, i.e. Changing LED's. or as far as replacing BGA's. as 99% of phones are fitted with SMT componants you will need at least a basic hot air rework kit with temprature control. if you are planning to repair water damaged phones you will need an ultrasonic cleaner. Test equipment will depend again on what level of repair you are planning to do, A multimeter is pretty much usless by itself and I very rarly use one on a phone ( maybe to test the battery if the scopes off). buy your self a decent scope with a good frequency range. I have here a pace dual output hot air station and tons of attachments, hot air tweezers, Scope, ultrasonic tank, pace variable soldering irons, I also had a Hot plate made up, this is brilliant for repairing dry joints and changing leds on the newer phones, lay the board on the plate and it's hot enough just to melt the solder on the top of the board without damage to the PCB or components, then in with the tweezers and replace the LEDS, for dry joints dip it in the flux and then on the plate for a few seconds and all joints OK, even fixed some BGA faults, and I don't do it for a living, I just repair phones in my spare time for holiday, car and beer money. but the biggest asset you need is experience and product knowlege, Stick to what you know best, and if you can't fix it or you havn't got a clue what to do with it, DON'T TRY until you have found out. that way you loose nothing and never have to pay a customer for a phone that you have destroyed. But if you have to ask this question, maybe repairing phones is not for you.. |

This may be what he is talking about? not sure but this is the closest thing i have seen to what he disscribed. If not they seem to have a good stock of equipment any way. I have NOT ordered from these guys yet so can't tell you if they are good or not. Lee1225 |
