Hide Developer Options without Clear Data

Does anybody know how to hide developer options again without clearing data in the Settings app? I don't want to lose all my WiFi connections and specific settings. I have a rooted Galaxy S7 with Nougat.

I was taking a look at /data/system/users/0/settings_global.xml
Changing the "development_settings_enabled" to a value of 0 with vi didn't stay persistent after reboot. The menu was still there and the value reverted back to "1".

Has anybody ever looked into this? It's more for interest sake at this point.

I was rooted and did it through root explorer and Busybox/Vi through ADB. Both times it didn't stay. It's Android 7.0 on a Galaxy S7.
