atf do we have to programe new emmc before we install it on motherboard


hi
guys if we buy emmc chips do we have to programme them?
are those emmc chips are blank ?
or we can install them on the phone then programe them?
plz guide

If you buy eMMC IC first hand - mostly they may be are empty and you need to fill it ( via JTAG or direct eMMC connection ). In third party suppliers ( most chinese web-shops ) eMMC are already partialy preprogrammed ( even just with boot-s ) depend of target market / i9300, N7100 ect ... / .

In any case if you have separate eMMC and eMMC programming slot is good idea to rewrite eMMC contain according to your needs BEFORE to solder it it to PCB - this will test a eMMC health and will prevent you from mistakes.
