Member: 1873863 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 67 | ATF eMMC direct, chip compatibility ? I have used with success the emmc tool with 3 emmc from Samsung S2 (i9100) phones. Now i must read data from an emmc coming from an i9300 Samsung S3, because something went bad and the phone will not start. The first suspect was a dead chip, but i have connected to ATF nitro and it is detected by the software. Then when i try to read, the tool enter into a "retry" loop without end, this is the log : Code: ====================================================== ====================================================== eMMC Test Point Connection Module ====================================================== ====================================================== 1. DO NOT USE THE PHONE"S BATTERY 2. Connect the Soldered TP Connections to ATF Box 3. Disconnect the USB Cable and Wait until the the ATF Software will tell you to Connect the USB. Interface Reset OK! eMMC Access Type: SECTOR MODE eMMC Supported Voltage Range: 3.5-3.6V, 3.4-3.5V, 3.3-3.4V, 3.2-3.3V, 3.1-3.2V 3.0-3.1V, 2.9-3.0V, 2.8-2.9V, 2.7-2.8V, 1.9-2.0V CID : 1501003030303030305620110726 CSD : 902701320F5903FFF6DBFFEF8A404023 eMMC Boot Information Revision 1.5 (for MMC v4.41) BOOT PARTITION : NOT BOOT ENABLED PARTITION ACCESS : R/W USER PARTITION PERM_BOOT_CFG_PROT : DISABLED PWR_BOOT_CFG_PROT : DISABLED eMMC FirmW UPDATE : DISABLED EMMC CACHE SIZE : 0 KB SUPER PAGE SIZE : 4096 KB HC ERASE GROUP SIZE: 512 KB USER AREA SIZE : 17179869184 BYTES BOOT PARTITION SIZE: 512 KB RPMB PARTITION SIZE: 128 KB eMMC Device Information Manufacturer ID: SAMSUNG Device Type : Embedded BGA Application ID : 00 Product Name : 000000 Product Rev : 5.6 Product SN : 20110726 Manufactured : January 2005 Card Specific Data CSD_STRUCTURE : Version 1.2 SPEC_VERS : Version 4.1/4.2/4.3 TAAC : 13 ns TRANS_SPEED : 4000000 KHz READ_BL_LEN : 512 Bytes C_SIZE : HIGH CAPACITY WP_GRP_ENABLE : YES WRITE_BL_LEN : 512 Bytes CONTENT_PROT_APP : NO PERM_WRITE_PROTECT: NO TMP_WRITE_PROTECT : NO Extended CSD Saved: 1501003030303030305620110726_BD9F6C12.ext_csd Backup Directory: C:\AdvanceBox Turbo Flasher\eMMC\EXT_CSD\ 1. Member: 1873863 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 67 | Just for info : My interface power the chip with 2.8V and 1.8V , wires soldered directly on chip, chip NOT on board, and i have not placed pullup resistors. |

Member: 651945 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 20,118 | @laptopmd In my experience: 1. Use 3.30v on VccQ and Vcc 2. Use PULL-UP 100 ohms on CMD and DATA 3. On ATF Software, Select 3.30v All my test eMMC Chips are detected by step 1-2-3. Tested on: Samsung, San.Disk, Toshiba, Hynix, Micron Which were placed inside my eMMC Socket adapter. If eMMC is still on Phone PCB, then use 2.80v instead of 3.30v and put 2.80v on ATF software as well. If not stable, then move up to 3.30v on both your external power and on ATF software. The pull up resistor is important and it makes it more stable for read/write operations. B.R. |

Member: 1873863 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 67 | Thank you Advance-Box ! Nope, emmc is not on the board. I have tried before, but it was even not detected by atf (connected with 3.3V and pullup resistors). Then i have removed emmc from the board, and soldered wires directly to it, and then checked for continuity, and lowered voltage to 2.8v and 1.8v from IC regulators (i was scared to burn the chip). At this point ATF recognized the chip, but not read the content. I will try your suggestion, thank you very much ! |

Member: 760531 Status: Offline Sonork: [email protected] Thanks Meter: 58 | Emmc name 000000 you will have to chip in a i9300 or n7100 mobile phone motherboard, and then use the sd card and coal. Wait for about 1 2 minutes, the chip will resurrect! Emmc name will become VTU00M |

For the customer, it is very important to recover the data, not the phone. If i repair the bootloader, then i have to reload the firmware so i lose the data.. i should try first to read the emmc, then i can play with the bootloader | |

Member: 1873863 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 67 | Nothing :-( Even by building a new interface with 3.3v and pull-up resistors as suggested by Advance-Box, the emmC it is still detected by atf, but then it is impossible to read. The loop "retries" continue ad infinite. I suspect sectors badly damaged on emmc. I abandon |

Next day i try again with another two and same and always same error "ERROR: EMMC WAS NOT Detected! 0x01 Check your Test Point Soldering". What is wrong? BR |

Member: 1873863 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 67 | Well.. of course check your soldering if good (check for continuity). Which adapter you have ? i hope NOT GPG 5in1, it is crap ! it is completely wrong for this box. (i have it) |

Member: 651945 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 20,118 | Hi, You should also consider that Samsung eMMC sometimes go into "self-destruct" mode... Which means even if your soldering is 101% perfect, you will still not be able to detect the "dead" eMMC. There is a new adapter from SmartGsm team which has the built-in 100 ohms pull up to 3.3v. I have tested it with eMMCs on PCB of Xiaomi, Samsung, Nokia X, Lumias, HTC and LG Google phone and it was always working well even when I am using 10 inches long wires. You should get similar results when using 100 ohms pull-up to Vcc. |

Member: 651945 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 20,118 | Hi, Product Name: 00000000 Means eMMC is damaged and you cannot read/write to it. So it also means your connection is 100% OK... but the eMMC is not OK. So just to be clear... You cannot read anything from this emmc at all. B.R. |
