If you will have read carefully will have understand Why Short "NAND_#RE" Point to GND... It's Reset Totally to "Factory" the EMMC...so when you select "Update Firmware+Factory Reset" is obvius that you are Losting all, if want Repair from Factory and No replace EMMC...

I meant if the option is selected to update + Factory Reset of course it's going to reset, but if the option for Factory Reset is not set, then why would it still erase all user data.?

This Solution is for you Not get in the TRASH you Broken EMMC....and for "Update Fw" you must need one Blank New EMMC, it's possible only with this procedure...clear now?

But I first want to try update Firmware only because I need USER data!

But what if you select: "Samsung eMMC Firmware Update WITHOUT format?

There are many screenshot in this forum that show this option: "Samsung eMMC Firmware Update" so without the "+ Format". Like this one:

(wanted to show you what I mean but I am not able yet to post any links...)

In this case only the Firmware should be updated or not?

And why am I unable to select this option? I can ONLY select: "Samsung eMMC Firmware Update + Format. But I do NOT want to format it.

Becouse Many users was doing the procedure w/o Format first and cryng for many errores.... becouse Overwrite "Fw Update"....So from Default, if you want use this procedure for NOT replace EMMC must need of do "Format + Update fw".

If want only read "User Data" can try with EMMC direct and Read "User Data" partition....but Only in EMMC NOT BROKEN.....

Also in EMMC Not BROKEN can use ATF D.R.I.V.E an read User Data...if Read carefully All Sticky Thread you find all...but if you are one of the 60% Lazy User remain still in you wrong point.

It's all.

First of all, many thanks for answering all our questions! Especially for the lazy ones ;-)

I understand your frustration regarding users who complain about errors and failures because they do a FW update without the necessary format. If an only-FW-update does not do the trick, a FW update + format is the only way to proceed.

BUT, for data recovery purposes this only-FW-update COULD be the only way left to get back any user data and therefore this option is very important to all data recovery specialists.
If you get a non-working phone and the owner wants his photos, contacts, movies, etc., and you tried JTAG, ISP and even chip-off to get this data, nothing can be done further if the eMMC will not show itself. But if there is also a possibility to just update its FW, it will give data recovery a next level approach! I think this is also the reason why this functionality is (or will be) so popular.

Maybe this functionality can return in upcoming updates? For instance with an extra pop-up that says: “If the FW update will not deliver the result you want, please choose FW update + format instead”.

Just a thought

Sorry that I am hard to understand. I have read Sticky Threads carefully (more than once).

I just had some thoughts about this option, that's all.

What language would be best for you to understand me?
