| >>>>How to flash your G1 DREAM AND HTC MAGIC G2 DESIRE ROOTING >>>> As we see many users are facing problem to flash their G1 so here is the easy tutorial to flash your phone. this tutorial will show you how to flash your HTC Magic / T Mobile G1 with flash ROMs. Android builds are usually distributed as flash ROMs which you can use to update your phone if you have root access to it. Otherwise, you have to wait for official updates which come out once in a blue moon. You can also install modded ROMs which offer extra features and are optimised for performance. You can create ROM backups of the current state of your phone and restore them whenever you want to. You can also apply flash images from other regions. The main reason why you would want to install flash ROMs is to install the latest Android builds directly from source. Also, if something goes wrong in the flashing process, you can restore it using a previous working build To flash your phone with ROMs, You need to have 1. A HTC Dream / T Mobile G1 with root access 2. HARD SPL (Secondary Program Loader) installed 3. The Flash ROM You can follow my previous tutorial to know how to root your phone. First of all, install Hard SPL (Secondary Program Loader) on your phone. It allows you to flash your phone with ROMs. Download this file http://rapidshare.com/files/407960559/update.zip.html Connect your phone to your PC and mount it. Copy update.zip to the root of your phone. Now, switch off your phone. Start it up in recovery mode by holding the Home key and pressing Power. You will now enter recovery mode. Press Alt + L to see the recovery menu. Now press Alt + S to apply the update from the SD card to the phone. Now just restart your phone and your installation of Hard SPL has completed. Now, to install new Android builds, you need to download the ROM and then install them. You can download the ROMs from a number of sources on the internet, I personally prefer official support site for axebox to download files. Download the ROM image you want. Rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of your phone's SD card after connecting it to your PC. Now, switch off your phone. Hold the Home key and pressing Power. You will now enter recovery mode. Press Alt + W to wipe your phone first. This is needed or the device may hang during installation. Now press Alt + S to apply the update from the SD card to the phone. Now just restart your phone and the new ROM will have been installed. If you still need some help just post and we will try our best to solve BR AxeBox Team Last edited by AxeBox; 07-20-2010 at 11:36. |

| FLASH MAGIC FIRST METHOD How to Check Your Motherboard Version 1. Turn off your phone 2. Turn the phone on by either holding down the volume down button and power button at the same time OR by holding down the back button and power button at the same time. 3. When the screen comes up, it should say somewhere on the first line either 32A or 32B. THAT is your motherboard version. Remember it… 4. Turn off and on the phone. 5. Goto Settings > Applications  > and make sure Unknown sources is checked ON. II. Root the Magic 1. Download this APK and the appropriate recovery image for your motherboard (32A or 32B) and save it to your computer: FlashRec.apk (Updated: 09/26/09) Amon Ra’s Recovery Image (32B)(Updated 11.18.09) Amon Ra’s Recovery Image (32A)(Updated 11.18.09) 2. Once they are saved to your computer, copy them both to your SD card (do NOT put them inside any folders on the SD card, just put them on the SD card itself). 3. Unplug the phone from the computer once they are downloaded to the SD card. 4. Goto the Market and download Linda File Manager or any file manager program if you do not already have one. 5. Open the file manager and goto SDCard and then find the FlashRec apk file and click it. If asked tell it to use Package Installer to open it. It should automatically install the apk. 6. Open the FlashRec program and click on Backup Recovery Image and wait for it to finish. 7 (FOR 32A ONLY) Once done, click on the empty text box in the FlashRec program and type: /sdcard/recovery-RAv1.6.2H.img 7 (FOR 32B ONLY) Once done, click on the empty text box in the FlashRec program and type: /sdcard/recovery-RAv1.6.2G.img 8. Then click on the Flash Custom RecoveryImage button and wait for it to finish. 9. Turn off the phone and turn it on into Recovery mode by holding down Home and Power to turn it on (keep holding until the recovery screen comes up has a bunch of text on a black background). So long as that screen comes up, you have done it correctly and can now go on to the How to Load a ROM video for your appropriate device! 10. To get Root access you MUST go to the next video mentioned above and load a custom ROM. Reported Issues Issue: I get Invalid Recovery Image when using the FlashRec program. Solution: Make sure that the spell correction and auto completion are OFF in the Text Settings (Settings > Locale and Text > Touch Input > Text Input then turn off Prediction, spell correction, and word completion) of your phone. If not then it may put in spaces where they do not belong. (I had it put a space after .img and couldn’t see it so couldn’t figure out why it kept saying invalid recovery image, like you guys). Other than that, just make sure it is on the root of the SD card (not in any folder) and that you are typing in the recovery name and filepath correctly. Then and it should show Flash Recovery Image. Issue: When I download the FlashRec.apk it shows up as a .zip not an apk. Solution: No problem. Do NOT extract it, just simply replace the .zip with .apk and then proceed with the procedure. Issue: I get backup failed or flash failed when I try to use the FlashRec progam. Solution: This is most likely because you already have a custom recovery image, please use one of the unrooting procedures to get back to the original recovery image and THEN you can use this procedure. Also, instead of doing that, if you have root access, you can just put the recovery image on your SD card then go into Terminal (download it from the Market if you don’t already have it) and type: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img IF STILL NEED SOME HELP YOU CAN ASK BR AxeBox Team Last edited by AxeBox; 08-07-2010 at 11:44. |

| how to root the HTC Desire! Compatibility This guide will allow you to root your HTC Desire, provided it has a bootloader version of 0.80 or below and ROM version 1.21.xxx.x or below (2 different downloads are available depending on your ROM version). To check this, turn off your device, then turn it back on with the 'back' key held. On the second line in green text you will see HBOOT- and then a number. Provided this is 0.80 or below, this guide should work for you. If you have a bootloader / OS newer than this,http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f616...2/#post6222251 please visit this topic for details on how to downgrade. Desire rooting protection Back in the early days of Android, rooting was easy. You had several options - you could flash stuff via the bootloader, you could flash an engineering bootloader, you could use kernel exploits - there were many ways of getting the low level access to your device that - in fairness - I think we as paying customers are entitled to. As time has progressed however, the manufacturers have made things harder and harder. The Desire is not a straightforward phone to root, for many reasons, including... * a 'perfected bootloader' that doesn't allow flashing or booting of any images (even HTC signed ones) * a RUU flash process that does not allow downgrading of the bootloader to earlier versions * a kernel (that as yet does not have publicly available source) that as yet has no known exploits * a new protection method previously seen on the HTC Tattoo that protects key partitions from having write access. Even with SU access, it is not possible to write to the boot, recovery or system partitions. In reality, the options for rooting a device this secure are limited. Even if a kernel exploit were found, the key partitions would still be unwritable, rendering su access useless. This was circumvented on the Tattoo very cleverly, using a specific memory address from a confidential Qualcomm datasheet, however this information is not yet available for the Snapdragon chipset used in the Desire (and indeed may never enter the public domain). And so the root process becomes a process of methodically probing every possible point of exposure on the device, looking for the slightest chink in the armour. I found one and we're putting it to good use! The downside is that it's not as easy or as pretty as rooting a device that is actually DESIGNED to be accessible at the lowest level, such as the Nexus One. What this root process provides and does not provide The root process will... * flash your device with a new, generic 1.15.405.4 based ROM that has Superuser access The root process will NOT... * enable you to flash your device with a custom recovery image * enable you to have write access to the /system partition in normal use of the device Both of these limitations are being worked on of course. Pre-requisites In order to complete this guide, you need the following... * a HTC Desire wink.gif * a computer running Windows (32 bit recommended, some users have reported issues with x64), OSX or Linux * a microUSB cable * a microSD card (to be made into a 'goldcard' - only necessary if your device is an operator supplied device) * the downloads below * balls of steel (actually, I just made that up) tongue.gif Download To be ready for the guide, download one of the following items... - If you have a bootloader version 0.75.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.15.xxx.x or below - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?lwmnz2yifec (MediaFire) ]- MD5: 28dd5acc4104bb49bd4b292cc8e8437c - ONLY if the above download is not suitable - if you have a bootloader version 0.80.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.21.xxx.x or below http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zxyyyxotzzg (MediaFire) - MD5: eb2ed5bca1334cacd70e4720f5b29960 Once you have this on your machine, you're ready to start! The guide Follow through these steps, one by one and at the end of it you'll have a rooted Desire with the latest ROM. Note: This process will wipe your device and there is currently no option to backup your device ROM before you start. * Make your microSD card into a goldcard by using AxeBox (it's a good idea to back up the contents of your card first!). * Unzip the file you downloaded to a directory, then open a command prompt / terminal window at that directory. * Copy the 'update.zip' file to your microSD. Do NOT rename it. * Turn off your HTC Desire, then turn it back on with the 'back' button held down. You'll see 'FASTBOOT' written on the screen in a red box. Connect the phone to the computer. * In the terminal window, enter either 'step1-windows.bat', './step1-mac.sh' or './step1-linux.sh' as appropriate. * Navigate to the 'BOOTLOADER' and then 'RECOVERY' option on the menu, using the volume buttons to move and the power button to select. * When a black screen appears with a red triangle, press and hold 'Volume Up' then tap 'Power'. * Your device should now be at the 'recovery' screen. Select the 'wipe data/factory reset' option, then select the option to 'Apply sdcard:update.zip'. This will take a little while, so go make a nice cup of tea. When the flash has finished, reboot, and you are DONE! we are trying our best to give maximum support BR AxeBox Team Last edited by AxeBox; 08-18-2010 at 01:41. |

| How to downgrade your hboot OBS! There is no reason to downgrade in case you already have hboot version 0.75 or a rooted 0.80 device. This guide is for future leaks of a ENG spl or such. Now here are the steps I took: 1. Download a RUU with your desired HBOOT version. Note down the version of the RUU's ROM, e.g. 1.15.405.4. You can find a list of RUU's at AxeBox support 2. Go to this mtd0.img CID generator Desire mtd0.img creator 3. In the CID generator enter the ROM version you noted down and set CID to 11111111. Let it generate and download it. 4. Download flash_image binary from here http://benocharm.lensworks.org/flash_image and then do the following in adb while the phone is connected: adb push /{the folder u downloaded it to}/flash_image /data adb push /{the folder u downloaded it to}/mtd0.img /data 5. In terminal app type following: chmod 755 /data/flash_image /data/flash_image misc /data/mtd0.img Now the mainversion is changed, so that the we pass the RUU's version checking. 6. Type the following while you're device is connected to adb adb reboot oem-78 It will now reboot into RUU mode. OBS! dont panic, its supposed to just a image, nothing more. Make sure USB cable is connected to the device by: fastboot devices If it returns with a device, then you're good. 7. Run the RUU and let it work. Enjoy your downgraded HBOOT version. | Tutorial how Root and downgrade Hboot HTC MAGIC/SAPPHIRE 32B !! TO UNLOCK WITH AXEBOX Hi this is manual all file you got on support in directory /Shipped Roms/SAPPHIRE_32B/ Procedure for all HTC SAPPHIRE/MAGIC 32B with Hboot higher then 1.33.0004 ROOTING THE PHONE: 0) Get microSD card format it to FAT32 and Creat goldcard with AXEBOX for SAPPHIRE 1) Download your sappimg, stock radio, recovery and SPL from AXEBOX support SAPPHIRE_32B directory. 2) Okay after you download all of those, place the recovery and radio in the tools folder of your AndroidSDK, naming them each something you will remember(name the recovery, "recovery", and the radio, "radio", to make it simple). After all of that place the sappimg on the root of your sdcard(goldcard) and the SPL there as well, name it "update.zip" to make it simpler on you. 3) Power down your device, then turn it on holding volume down and power, let the phone load up the sappimg, and then let it do the upgrade IF IT DOES NOT WORK YOUR CARD YOU FORMATTED TO BE A GOLDCARD MORE THAN LIKELY SIMPLY CANNOT BE FORMATTED FOR THAT PURPOSE. 4) After it asks you if you want to reboot, reboot your device, notice it says HTC magic now, it's cool. Pull your battery out then place it back in, turn your phone on into fastboot by holding down the back and power button, then plug into usb chord(The device might turn on automatically after pulling the battery and reinserting it., don't panic pull the battery again and this time hold the back button as you place the battery back in). 5) Go into CMD prompt and intput these commands: cd\ cd\AndroidSDK\tools(the name of AndroidSDK varied depending on what you have it named as under the root of your c drive, I renamed it to make it easier) fastboot devices Your serial number should pop up, awesome take a sip of that preferred beverage, then input these commands fastboot flash radio radio.img fastboot flash recovery recovery.img fastboot reboot-bootloader Alright if you replaced the splash screen on the phone you will see it there, pull the battery out again though then place it back in this time turn it back on holding home and power to enter recovery(The device might turn on automatically after reinserting the battery, don't panic pull the battery again and this time hold the home button as you place the battery back in). 6) In recovery click on "usb toggle" and connect phone to usb cable you should see phone like SDCARD reader just place on root sdcard ROM file and back to recovery menu. 8: Final step!!! First wipe all 5 options in the wipe menu, or for clockword click wipe user data, then wipe cache partition, then go under advanced and click on wipe battery stats. Then flash the SPL, notice it says it requires a reboot, no biggie click reboot device on the home screen of your phone and it should take you back to recovery, after that click flash zip from sd, and flash the rom you selected, then click reboot. That it now you got phone ready to unlock !! !! !!Last edited by TaHiR; 11-08-2010 at 20:53. |
