I have 3G and its home button does not work with soft press. I have to press hard and its works by pressing it 3 or 4 time. what to do?

we'll first you have to open the iphone and try to look if the pins of the home button is not damage or worn out, you could try pulling the pins a little bit up so it could connect better to the board.

Replace the home button flex. Search youtube for directions, it is very simple and cheap.
