I think that u1401 gets power from the battery and u1700 is attached to charger. Not 100 percent sure tho

So u1401 controls u1700? As in provides power to it then u1700 handles charging?

Anyone else? Does u1401 control power to u1700 so it can charge the battery?

u2 detects when lightning plug is connected and communicates with it (there is ic inside the plug) through 1-wire SDQ serial interface to set up charging. u2 is also an usb mux and it forwards usb connecton from computer to cpu. It can also forward connection to debug interfaces but you need special factory cable for it.

u1700 is a muscle of charging. It takes power from 5.0v line and puts proper voltage on vcc_main to maintain 4-phase battery charging. u1700 is probably autonomous in charging, charger control loops parameters are set through i2c interface and information about battery status (gas gauge) goes from u1700 to cpu through 1-wire HDQ.

Isn't u2 just another name for u1700? What does u1401 and q1403 do?

That's what confuses me, if u1401 is charger ic does that mean u1700 Tristar doesn't handle charging?

u1700 only handles communication with lighting cable because without proper authentication from lighting cable tigris (u1401) will not start charging battery
