Arrow Great Forum, great people, all experts please read.

Hello Everyone

I'm N iPHONE fanatic. recently i started to fix broken iphones changing screens changing home buttons...etc these little tricks for newbies
, till i dropped my iphone 4 and now i can not restore due to error -1 , which after reading through many topics i narrowed the causes into two possible things
1- Battery (which i already ordered a new one)
2- Baseband damage, but this one im totaly unaware of how to work with it. which i need help on how to fix it and not to mess the phone more.

for sure im going to be a regular member here,
i need an expert please to answer two things beside the question above
1- what all the tools i will need to have to conduct any ic,chips or mainboard repairs?
2- theres many terms i dont understand when i read differents threades such as , jump it or make a jumper , reball, solder or Unsolder ,capacitors , if beep or not beep, ...etc

i really want to know

thanks again

You need to look for cracks in glue (epoxy) around the ic's, with a microscope, usb one is ok for inspection, stereo one is better, like in a lab. you will also need a multimeter, soldering iron, hot air station, or infared, and loads more equipment, most of all you need patience, imay i suggest that you buy old cheaper broken iphones to practice, good luck

jump it or make a jumper - Remove part, make direct connection with solder or wire to both points.

reball-A reball means that someone completely removes the chip and the old solder from the motherboard and GPU chip (CPU and GPU) and reattaches the chip (s) with new solder balls or if your like magician Wites you can do by hand
iPhone 3G PIMC Reball Without Stencil.wmv - YouTube

solder or Unsolder - Soldering iron, put solder to make permenant connection with points....etc..

capacitors-A device used to store an electric charge, consisting of one or more pairs of conductors separated by an insulator

if beep or not beep - With multimeter you can check continuity between two point. Continuity - Current is passing.

Hope this helps.
