Question Help: iPhone Screen Issues

So,

I have an iPhone 5 16GB with iOS 7.1.2.

I cracked the screen so I purchased a replacement screen and installed it. After installation, the screen glows a dark violet color, but there is no display. When I plug the phone into my notebook, the iPhone appears in my itunes and I can manage storage and restoration etc. The iPhone vibrates when it first connects to the computer, and then every five or so seconds it gives off a pulse sound "bwong"... There is no response when I switch vibrate mode on and off.

I know that the replacement screen works because I installed it on another iPhone 5 to make sure it worked, and it did. I cannot put the old cracked screen back on since I foolishly tore the LCD ribbon on it.

I have gone through the "recovery mode" restoration process with no avail.

Also, I pulled the screen off (but did not disconnect the ribbons) and I can see white light shining from behind the metal LCD protector...

Please give me any input as to what the issue may be that is causing the lack of display. Also I would appreciate recommended interventions to remedy the issues at hand.

Thank you for any counsel and assistance -
