i helped a lot too for free expecially on xbox 360 that i'm an expert. I helped also other people on finding solution on consoles xbox and ps3, and building the right profile for reattach.
Tell them all my secrets to have a perfect reattach and a long lasting soldering...
i like when they thank me, but sometimes some people when have success, they simply go away without any thanks, showing up again when next problem appears...i don't want money, but a thank is always great

i still have the 2 symptoms:
1) LCD bright up itself (i realize that the problem is or dock connector or more probably home button...but at the moment HOME BUTTON is disconnected, the gold clip could be the problem because sometimes it says VOICE CONTROL and it appear only when keep pushing HOME

2) Battery always charging, never reach 100%, still miss the very last thick!

Really can't figure it out what it cause it...

on the rear of motherboard, just near the soldering point of speaker, there is a quite big component all browned. I thinked it was flux or something else, but scraping it doesn't clean it.
So i measured its resistance and is infinity.
So i though that it was a resistor, and i've shorted it.
For trying i've also put a screw in one of the hole of dock connector to fix it strongly to the back cover, then solder back the battery, ready for another try.
Now the LCD issue seems to be solved, but still remains problem number 2.
So 1st problem is due to a bad connector (seems strange, i've resoldered each pin manually with flux+iron) or that burnt resistor (maybe caused by a previous time when filter charging burned)

mmm no way...the 1st problem reappear when i plug it back to the PC...it depends on lucky...unplugging the usb cable select the issue...sometimes appear sometimes now...if i plug/unplug a couple of times and i see the issue is solved, is ok! never see the issue anymore...but the issue could appear as soon as i connect it to the PC, and need to plug/unplug a couple of times to take it away...so, could be connector or software problem i think, but can't realize the 2nd problem.
when i plug/unplug multiple times, sometimes the very last thick of battery is completed and the icon is CHARGED. The plug/unplug thing is the cause of all my problem...maybe also the 2nd problem is due to dock connector!
I've already ordered a new one...will see what happens

Remove this varistor to exclude home button pressing.

That you jumped i think is inductor not resistor show picture.

here you are:

but if i remove that varistor, home button won't work anymore? :S
However, brushing with IPA i've lost the superior half of the gold clip home button, the one is your photo, just over the varictor. How to fix that? :S

Oh my gosh this inductor is for video buffer ic no jumper, are you sure home button not work without varistor?Because it is ESD component not important.
Solder an goldplated pin from other phone in place of removed.
Also chk if you not removed varistor with track if so make a jumper from gold dot of home button to near resistor.

the jumper i showed you in the photo i must done it because resistance was infinity...so resistor or inductor, it was visibly burnt.
Also usb filter was burnt, and as you tell in your solution i've jumpered it and also the USB mosfet.
i've removed also your varistor, nothing changed.
If i press with the finger the gold clip (or what remains of it,as the top part is gone as i said you ) and home button working properly.
But problem remains...if i don't push anything, screen will light up itself...sorry my friend, it didn't work other probably solutions?
tomorrow will arrive the new socket...will see if it solve the problem

Lcd lights up without usb cable connected?
I can tell you if inductor was burn then video buffer ic could be burn and it could influence the lcd to light up.

EXACTLY my friend...ipod 4 turned on and leaved on the table....look at it for about 1 min...it lights up itself (lockscreen obviously) every 15 mins :S
that inductor had visible burning damage...how to check if the IC is visible burnt or not?
Theorically if i desolder it, it should work anyway without it, but can't watch videos is right? I could give a try, only to see if LCD lights up itself!
However, sometimes when i plug usb cable it say CHARGE NOT SUPPORTED...i have to unplug and replug it again, sometimes 2 or 3 times..
