I am having the exact same problem with my iPad 2 wifi and was hoping that someone could provide some guidance.

The symptoms are identical.....

redsn0w has it in soft DFU mode and it is showing black screen. Attempting to recover through Itunes goes through the extraction and the verification with apple servers. The iPad resets and the apple logo comes on the screen with the progress bar but it doesn't fill. It actually did fill once and completed the restore for IOS 7.1.1 but when the iPad reset it went right back to soft DFU mode. At not time does it enter recovery mode showing USB and itunes logo on screen. There is no errors for itunes as it simply states 'waiting for iPad' message and the iPad sits with no progress.

This resulted after my son dropped it from the arm of my couch. The LCD showed white screen with lines so I replaced it with a new one and also replaced the power flex cable as well. I have tested both LCDs and they both produce the same symptoms when trying to restore.

Latest TU restore fix and redsn0w did not help with the problem. If I force reset the iPad redsn0w can identify the device:

"Based on the last time this iPad2 connected in DFU mode:

CPID: 8940
CPRV: 21
CPFM: 03
SCEP: 01
BDID: 04
ECID: 0000039CF1******
IBFL: 00
SRTG: [iBoot-838.3]"

I am thinking that it isnt a software issue but a hardware problem. I am new to this forum and hardware repair so I was hoping someone could give me a little guidance as to a repair method, if there is any. I would like to think that there is something I could try to fix this problem.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Same problem to me with an ipad3 , when powered it goes to soft dfu mode. When trying to restore, the apple logo appear and progress bar too, but it doesn't not progress.

Apple store verdict is "cpu damaged". I don't believe apple geniuses.. the ipad was never opened before me, must be something nand related or power related, because there is no sign of water or drop damages
