iPhone 4S Microphone

Hi,

The microphone on my iPhone 4S has gone - I took it to the Apple store to fix and it's no longer under warranty, they said it would be £150 to fix - the phone itself is hardly even worth that much anymore. I purchased a replacement part off the Internet and replaced the microphone.

Similar to before, the microphone is still not working. When I ring my phone to test it, I played some music and it could not be picked up, however when I tapped the bottom of my phone where the microphone is located, I can hear a noise so the microphone must be working to some extent?

Does anyone have any idea why this could be?

Thanks! :-)

Does a handsfree earpiece and microphone work when plugged into the headphone jack to make and receive calls for the other person to hear you? Can the other person hear you when your phone is using speakerphone? Is the iPhone partially set to silence with the side switch? When calling the other person, is the mute button on?

When you replaced the microphone, are you talking about the flex cable that also is used for the charging port?

There are two microphones inside the 4s. One is at the top combined on a flex cable with the headphone jack. Perhaps an expert can chime in regarding the iPhone features that use each microphone.

Microphone issue or others for iphone 4S

According to what you have mentioned, i can see your microphone has the connection issue. you should check it and replace a new micorphone if you need. or you might shoot a video clip to see if you can still record the video with the voice. if it still works, you can go ahead, change your microphone part.
