Iphone 4s turn off every 2-3 minutes

Hello.

I have a Iphone 4s that shuts down automatically every time after about 2-3 minutes after going to sleep/ standby mode.
If I leave the phone in the charger, the phone will stay on just fine. The problem only occur when the phone is using battery.

I have tried restoring the phone in Itunes and in DFU mode, but nothing helps.

I can also mention, that after the phone has been shut down automatically, I can power the phone back on with the home button, which I thought was a little strange.

Is it likely that this could be a battery problem?
Or is there another common solution to this problem?

Thanks for any inputs.
