Member: 2397540 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | IPhone 5 not powering after U2 changed I have an iPhone 5 which battery was draining very fast until it stopped working after the battery was fully drained. When I inserted a new battery it started as normal. I have decided to change the U2 IC after reading it may be the one leading to this issue but since it was replaced with a new one the phone is not powering on at all even with a new battery. Could it be a bad U2 IC or a badly mounted U2 IC? Would a missing U2 IC prevent the phone from starting? Thanks a lot for your help |

Member: 2397540 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | Hi and thank you for the answers. I will soon remove again the EMI shield and have a look at the U2 part number. I start to think that the U2 IC is not soldered correctly, probably not enough heat was applied to melt the tin. What I noticed is that the battery is not draining anymore. Before the U2 replacement the battery was draining also with the phone turned off. |

Member: 2397540 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | Hi shakil+, thank you for your answer. What I am surprised is that I do not have any voltage at the battery connector when the charger is plugged. It is like there is something missing on the charging circuit. Would I have current at the battery connector when plugged to a charger with a dead CPU? Thank you |

Member: 2397540 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | Dear all, I am back from holiday and I finally removed the U2 IC. The phone did not start without it but looking at the diagram of the component, I think that the phone cannot start without it. If anyone can confirm it would be great. I will install a new U2 IC but first I will have to rebuild some pads that I removed. Thanks to everyone for your help. |
