Hi
I have revived a few iphones doing this way
remove the heat shield form motherboard, clean the board with isapol alcahol, then check if still short if so
connect an external power source to the two pins that is short 3.7V
and wait till any compenent heats up and then remove the component that is hot
usually a capacitor.
good luck

You need to work out what component is shorted yourself! just because one guy replaced a capacitor doesn't mean it works for you too!

And what is the best way to do it, where do i start ?

Someone here told that you have to use a external dc source to power the board so you can find the component that gets hot ?

That would be a good place to start, applying low voltage high current will cause to shorted component to carry all the load and therefore heat or burn giving you a visual clue. Also symptoms will help you narrow down areas to look for example, touch issues could be a short in the touch IC or supplying components etc, get hold of the schematics and trace the lines.

Hi,

gsmhosting is awesome.

I find this post relevant, trying to repair a few of my phones to pass some time.

Measured across pins to find about 11k ohms so im thinking there is a short.

I apply a small voltage across those same pins and wait till its hot?

i have a small dc voltage regulator, am i correct , by connecting both positive and negative to the positive and negative terminals on the batt connector?

any tips would be appreciated

Thanks
