iphone 5c faulty lighting port?

just had a call from my daughter her 5c wont charge from any usb cable she has tried 4 new apple cables known working from friends but nothing at all happens when connected she cleaned out any dust but still the same results

however she also has a stereo with dock and it charges on this but takes longer then normal to charge plus drains from 100% to 49% in 3hrs now with light usage

can this all be caused by just a faulty port?

i just picked it up wouldnt turn on battery logo asking to connect charger
connected my belkin charger and it connected ok and charged to 100% fine
removed charger and in the time it took me to make a coffee it dropped to 96% on standby

if i turn the phone off and connect the cable it wont auto turn on so is it pointing to a Bad U2 IC?

when you say dead do you mean if its drained to the point it wont even show the red battery logo it will never again charge this battery?
