I have here a 5S with a broken touch id/home button flex cable.

If I want to use the TOUCH ID function again, can I swap this marked IC with the new flex cable? I think the data which is linked to the A7 is stored inside this small IC.

I had this problem and tried replacement buttons that did not work. I bought a complete faulty 5s mobile of the same colour (champagne) replaced the home button and I can confirm that the fingerprint sensor worked fine. So guys maybe there is some hope. What can we work out from this??

this is only a warning...

make sure that your device is off before connecting the ui flex of home button on iphone 5s,failure to do this the finger print sensor won,t work again.
