It's very easy and very cheap...get a connector like this over e bay just search "WIFI connector 3GS".

You have to use some flux and a very fine tip soldering tip...You can replace in 5 minutes

Last edited by limespirit; 01-11-2012 at 10:55. Reason: removed e bay

Hello,

LCD backlight problem:
the coil has been replaced but still, backlight only works if the device is connected to the charger

edit: and it's not charging forgot to mention that (but it has the connected to power supply symbol, just not the thunderbolt)

i have been trying to replace the wifi holder on one 3gs when i did it made no difference, then i notice that there is a resistor missing would this still cause me to get no wifi i think by looking at two 3gs on the pictures you see what i mean. Could I use a resistor out of and old mobile phone or something else as I don't have any spare 3GS or 3G boards.

That one is a varistor which is used with the connector 5 (power, audio connector)

Check the resistor under the wifi connector if it short, if open make jumper with thin wire

Remove resistor from point 2 to point 3 and solder thin wire. No need to jumper from point 1 to point 2.

With regards to remove black circled varistors. For now do not remove anything as long the phone power on, is able to toggle between ringer and silent and detects headphones.

In summary:
Remove resistor from point 2 to point 3 and create a jumper using a thin wire

Will soldering from point 2 to 3 do as well instead of wire
