Member: 2418082 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | iphone install unknown error (1) - NOT battery Newbie here...I tried searching, but all talk about this error regards the battery, which I have swapped out. OS install log specifies: [15:02:14.0817] update_baseband: bbupdater error: The operation couldn\U2019t be completed. (BBUpdater error 50 - Failed creating a communication transport to baseband.) [15:02:14.0817] Update[Baseband] error - The operation couldn\U2019t be completed. (RamrodErrorDomain error 1004 - update_baseband: failed querying baseband info) I have also searched, and visually inspected the board with jeweler's glass. I have looked at the Baseband Power IC ship (looks OK). The only visual clue I see are burn marks on top to the metal shield, directly over the Accelerometer and Gyroscope ICs. Any ideas how to troubleshoot? Also, I tried to find the 4s schematics, and found post 25 in the sticky, but it tries to save as a PHP, rather than a RAR. Any help appreciated... Eric |

Member: 2418082 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | and? Probably that means that the IC has to be reballed? I have a hot air gun, and can look at trying that, but I am curious as to the troubleshooting I can do to trace if it is indeed that, or another smaller component along the path. I will do more searching in regards to baseband errors on this site, to see if I can look further into this. Thanks. |

Member: 2418082 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | I also want to mention that I see a lot of posts about baseband issues, and that the error code is -1, but my error is 1. Are negative 1 and positive 1 the same error (I wouldn't think so, but I don't see negative error codes listed on apple forums)? Eric |

It is the same error -1, 1. BASEBAND, and is almost impossible to reball this ic. You need hi level professional skills for this repair. | |

Member: 2418082 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Thanks for clearing my confusion in regards to -1 and 1. I will also try to use you suggestions. I found a thread discussing voltage amounts across certain components related to the IC itself, but it was for a 4, not a 4s. Not sure if the cicuit is the same, but I will take a look at the schematics to see. Thanks...Eric |

Member: 2418082 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Thanks Gengar and bluemohin...I will look into those. Funny though that I don't see any damage to either of those 3 parts, my only damage seemed to be directly over U3,L9 and U17 area. Any way to test the circuit to the parts you mentioned? Voltage readings? |

Member: 735198 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | You should compare voltages with other working motherboard. EDIT: If you suspect that some parts might be burned - unsolder them and check. I don't think that water could damage baseband IC's because they're secured by glue. Make good inspection, always compare with other working motherboard and you should be able to find the solution. Member: 2418082 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Thanks...didn't think of that. Of course, I don't have another 4s logic board hanging around at the moment, though. Will voltages read same in restore mode vs. regular mode? |
